Joseph K. Qualey is a practicing attorney whose primary focus is construction and
real estate law, both general and commercial. Mr. Qualey earned
his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1979,
and his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1983.
After law school Mr. Qualey was a law clerk to
The Honorable Lawrence E Richter Jr., a Circuit Court Judge,
and was an instructor at Trident Technical College. Mr. Qualey
has been a member of the South Carolina Board of Assessment Appeals,
and is presently a member of the Charleston County Bar, the
South Carolina Bar and the American Bar of Appeals.
Mr. Qualey was thrice elected to Town of James Island Council,
has served on Charleston County Transportation Committee,
and was Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee for
the Town.
Mr. Qualey is married to the former Heidi Jahncke of New Orleans.
They have two sons, Kevin age 13 and Paul age 8.
