Leonard Blank  is a native Charlestonian and was raised West of the Ashley in

                                         Windermere.  He currently resides in Clark's Point and has lived

                                         on James Island for over 40 years.  Mr. Blank was educated in

                                         local public schools and was a Veteran student at the Citadel

                                         for two years.  He completed Executive Educational Programs

                                         at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.

                                         Mr. Blank served for four years in The United States Air Force

                                         and retired after 29 years of service at the Charleston Naval Shipyard

                                         as a Service Group Superintendent.

                                        

                                         Mr. Blank has served on the Advisory Board for

                                         Trident Technical College, the Redevelopment Board for

                                         Charleston Naval Shipyard, and on the Board of Directors of

                                         Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Resale Store as President.

                                         He currently volunteers with Rebuilding Together, Christmas in April,

                                         and Sea Island Habitat for Humanity's Operation Board. He is also

                                         a member of Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

 

                                         Mr. Blank was elected to James Island Town Council in 2006 and is

                                         currently Chairman of the Town's Planning and Zoning Committee.

                                         He was Chairman of the Planning Commission for the former

                                         Town of James Island for three years, and held the position of

                                         Planning Coordinator.  Mr. Blank was instrumental in developing

                                         the Town of James Island's Land Use Plan, and is a member of the

                                         James Island Alliance for Self - Government.  He is married to the

                                         former Pam Schumacher, and has three children and six grandchildren.
