Riley says he has strong support on James Island

After James Island Mayor Mary Clark endorsed Charleston mayoral hopeful Jimmy Bailey earlier this week, incumbent Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr.'s campaign announced Friday that he has the support of what it described as 62 "leaders from throughout James Island."

Riley also announced that he has the support of 25 past presidents of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, calling it "an unprecedented show of support from the community's business leadership."

Bishop Gadsden popular with candidates

Bishop Gadsden is turning into a popular stop for candidates. Earlier this week, Tom Doyle visited the retirement community, and Riley dropped by on Thursday.

Riley is holding a volunteer rally at 11:30 a.m. today at his campaign's West Ashley headquarters, 1720 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in the Village Square Shopping Center.
